Have Your Say
You may be aware that a number of large development proposals in and around Woodford have been put forward by a number of different developers. These are ahead of and separate from the new Stockport Local Plan, which is being prepared by the Council. The proposals are at various stages of the planning application process, including
preliminary public consultation by the developers. This stage is followed by formal consultation by the Council when a planning application is submitted. You may have responded to developer consultations on some the these proposals, however:
The most important time to comment is to the Council in response to the planning application.
This will ensure that the Council receives your views and that your contact details are on the Council’s list should the case go to appeal and give you the opportunity to make further comments.

A planning application has been submitted for the proposals by Russell Homes for development on Land South of Chester Road. See the map below for the location.
The deadline for responses is 17th October (10th October for Woodford Neighbourhood Forum).
The link to the planning application on the Council website is here
You will find 97 documents associated with the planning application, which is daunting, but the most important document is the Planning Statement. You can simply say how the proposal will affect you. Planning officers will assess the proposal technically for compliance with planning policies, in order to make a recommendation for approval or
refusal, so you could also challenge or support points in the Planning Statement.
You can respond to the Council by:
– Submitting a comment on line
You need to register first here, then go to the application, log in and submit your comments
– Sending your comments via email to: planning.DC@stockport.gov.uk
Note that your comments and name will be made public.
It is a good idea to copy your responses to local councillors and MP, so that they know the views of residents and the impact on the community. Councillors who sit on Council planning committees will hear the recommendations from planning officers and then vote on approval or refusal of the application. Here are the email addresses of our elected
representatives:

Cllr Dallas Jones: cllr.dallas.jones@stockport.
Cllr Jeremy Meal: cllr.jeremy.meal@stockport.
